Having won a battle, but not a war, the alien super-speed hedgehog named Sonic enjoys freedom and idleness. Dr. Robotnik isn't ready to give up and finds a new, equally insane ally - the Knuckles, with whom they go in search of an emerald capable of creating and destroying civilizations. To thwart the villains' plans, Sonic and Tails will try to be the first to find the powerful emerald.
